Is VueScan actually an alternative for this scanner in macOS 10.15, seeing the driver is not actually available in macOS 10.
What would no longer be possible when using Image Capture in his workflow? I assume Image Capture can scan as 16 bit Tiff or similar meaning all adjustments could be done post-scanning? It is the easiest and reliable way to scan documents using Mac. My understanding is that, as of now, Epson only supplies a scanner driver that makes it compatible with Apple's Image Capture, not with the new Epson Scan 2. Image capture app can upload pictures from your scanner directly to your system or network. Sofortbild can automatically import captured images into Apple Aperture and iPhoto, optionally launching those application if they are not already running. The new device comes with 10.15 Catalina and (sadly) his Epson Perfection V500 scanner is not fully supported. As I have explained in other occasions, Shift-click works differently in Icon View and List View.
